The founding members of this endeavor have been in the world of Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions Compliance, and Fraud Detection and Prevention for many years now. You might say we’re veterans in the industry – deep and wide experience as regulators, leaders, and practitioners.

Over time we’ve noticed several “legacy” companies claiming status as authoritative "certifying" bodies for all things AML, Sanctions, and Fraud related. These companies started out with a noble goal to collectively fight financial crime and human suffering by advancing knowledge for the entire industry. Lately though, they’ve become strictly for-profit endeavors, working to make millions of dollars every year on the backs of young industry professionals. All the while they pay out huge executive salaries, stage elaborate conferences in exotic locations, and engage in big-money legislative lobbying in Washington D.C.

Recently they’ve moved into a new area: cryptocurrencies. They’ve got no experience in this area. They’ve got no history in this area. Worst of all, they’ve got zero skills and zero respect for cryptocurrencies as a public good, and they have the nerve to charge prospective “certificate" holders up to $1,800 to administer a skills test?!?! We think that's ridiculous! (Keep in mind they also charge their members hundreds of dollars a year just to continue as members of their club in good standing. Is there any doubt that for them, it is all about the money?)

These companies see you, the individual anti-financial crimes professional and the financial services companies, as their source of continuous income.

So we decided to strike a blow against this system by developing a crypto-native path for credentialing as a Cryptocurrency Crimes Investigator. Our mission and ethos are clear… but most concisely, we aim to change the game. The legacy companies are no longer setting the terms. We are here to help everyone break free. The examination to earn the Sovereign Digital Credential – Cryptocurrency Crimes Investigator is an initial salvo against this legacy system.
